1. According to one national survey on drug use, each day approximately 6,000 Americans try marijuana for the first time.

3. Marijuana usage is a ritual part of many religious traditions throughout the world. In Islamic nations, it is accepted alongside coffee and tobacco while alcohol is strictly prohibited.
4. According to one report, it would take 800 joints to kill a person�”but the cause of death would be carbon monoxide poisoning.
5. There are over 200 slang terms for marijuana in the popular vernacular.
6. The name marijuana comes from a Mexican slang term for cannabis and is believed to have derived from the Spanish pronunciation of the names Mary and Jane. (The two names were also common Mexican military slang for a prostitute or brothel.) Marijuana came into popularity as a name for cannabis in the U.S. during the late 1800s.
7. The cannabis plant can grow in nearly any environment and averages one to two inches of growth per day and up to 18 feet total in ideal conditions.
8. The primary active ingredient in marijuana is THC (delta 9 tetrhydrocannabinol). It is this chemical that produces marijuana’s mind-altering effects.

The same guy comes back the next day and says, "Got any weed?" The man behind the counter replied, "No sir. We don't sell marijuana." So the man went home. He goes once again to the gas station. And again, he says to the guy working there, "Got any weed?" By this time the other dude was pissed. He yells, "You freakin' refer-lovin', pot-head burn-out! I told you, we don't sell that crap here! If you ever come back in here asking for that filthy crap again, I'll nail your freaking feet to the floor. Got it? Now beat it before I call the cops." So the stoner left. The next day he went back to the same old place with a dopey smile on his face. He went to the cashier and said, "Got any nails?" The man hesitated, then replied, "um, no sir, we don't sell nails here." The stoner grinned. "Got any weed?"

well i can tell you that i know that next it will be my state (NY) that we will be trying to get the bill passed. I wrote congress the last two weeks and the only thing i get of course is letters of promise for review of my request and that it would be considered last tues when they went into session.. i guess that had a positive turn out. So now i am just trying to get as many people as possible in NY to believe in this so we dont get rejected for our freedom/medicine again. Im not sure if you know i suffer from severe panic and anxiety disorder/ agoraphobia. I desperatly need my cannabis. There are only appx 390 people on the new york state norml page which is a very small number for such a big place esp compared to other states. I ask you to help me when you spread the word to remember us here in NY with very small voices trying to scream to a bunch of people who are not listening. When we rally,...a small amt of people gather at the capital, it is very sad and i try to just talk to everyone i can and get the word spread...Votes while im here..all dimes
