    -----------------

The original famous Levi jeans were made for the California '49ers out of hemp sailcloth and rivets so that the pockets would not rip when filled with gold.

    --------------

The First laws dating back to 1619 concerning Marijuana REQUIRED farmers to grow marijuana for hemp resources. (You could be jailed for not growing hemp during times of shortage in Virginia between 1763 and 1767)

    -------------

The United States Census of 1850 counted 8,327 hemp "plantations" (minimum 2,000-acre farm) growing cannabis hemp for cloth, canvas and even the cordage used for baling cotton.

"Reefer makes darkies think they're as good as white men."

Anslinger was the first Commissioner of the Treasury Department's Federal Bureau of Narcotics appointed in 1930 and pushed LIES and DECEPTION onto the American public In the campaign against marijuana from 1930 - 1937, the year marijuana was made illegal

    ---------------------

THIS IS IN -----WIKIPEDIA----- ON HARRY J ANSLINGER:
Some of his critics allege that Anslinger, DuPont petrochemical interests and William Randolph Hearst together created the highly sensational anti-marijuana campaign to eliminate hemp as an industrial competitor.

  • Miss High Times!

    Fri May 01, 2009 5:51 pm

First, let me just say, how much I am diggin the new site!! Love the layout and the fact that we can post blogs!  Fantastic :D  Thanks!

I have wanted to become Miss High Times since I first heard about the contest haha.  I have been an avid lover and user of marijuana for over 14 years and I'm not slowing down anytime soon! If anything I have learned to appreciate it more with age.  I've been arrested for possession twice, all while doing no harm to others.  I am a FIRM believer in decriminalization and safe access for ALL!!  We need to get non-violent offenders out of jail and put the billions of tax payer dollars to better use, like funding schools!!

I think there is nothing better than sitting outside under the stars on a warm spring/summer's evening and smoking some fine herb.  Pot makes everything more fun lol.  I would rather smoke a little to help with my headaches, cramps, nausea etc then take a man made product that can cause long term damage to your liver kidneys etc.  It's a better alternative than using products with ingredients I can't even pronounce haha.  I do believe that hemp could not only help our slacking economy but help our environment as well by providing more environmentally friendly products.  As corny as it may sound, I do believe that marijuana could change the world :D

    Thanks for reading!

    Liz
