My interview with TOKE OF THE TOWN!
Mon Jan 04, 2010 11:34 am
Yesterday I was interviewed by Toke of the Town Editor Steve Elliott. I just wanted to share this experience with you beautiful girls and I am also pretty proud to be getting noticed for all the hard work and dedication I give to the fight for MMJ and legalization. I hope you enjoy this information.
XOXO-Stoney
1. How did you learn that cannabis helps you medicinally?
Well, Steve I am 35 years young but I suffer from fibromyalgia, osteoporosis (maternally genetic), PTSD, and I am bipolar as well. I began self-medicating with Cannabis at a pretty young age to help me deal with mood swings and bouts of rage. I went through times in my life such as pregnancy without cannabis as well. I probably really honestly noticed when I was diagnosed bipolar (in my 20’s) and stopped smoking to comply with my psych doctor’s attempt to medicate me with his prescribed cocktail of pharmaceuticals. The results were stable but I was never truly comfortable, nor was it easy to be in my own skin, not to mention the persistent kidney problems after 4 to 5 years. I always came back to smoking cannabis. After about three months, whatever medications I was being prescribed would just completely stop working and we were back to square one. I can honestly say I was a true challenge to the Mental Health Community of doctors. LOL It wasn’t long before I knew and started asking but nevertheless had a door shut in my face at every turn over MMJ.
2. What's the biggest misconception people have about you?
I am pretty straight forward and don’t leave a ton of room for misconceptions because I am proud of my life and the wisdom I have gathered along the way. I learned before most of the people I knew that changing whom you really are inside to fit into the “normal box” does not work! You can save yourself a ton of pain if you just SHINE. Whatever, Whoever, and however is not going to matter in the end if you are happy.
3. Who are your heroes in the marijuana movement?
First and foremost My number one hero is Larry “Bonner” Lippert. I first met Larry a year or so ago and he moved me so much with his amazing story and his courageous fight with cancer. We talked every two weeks for the last 5 months of his life. During that time he asked me to take over the Colorado Chapter of American Cannabis which had been picked up but never went anywhere the year prior to that.
I graciously accepted and began to talk to and learn from Larry. I loved to listen to him, & when the medication made it hard for him to speak, I would brainstorm out loud to him and he would email me his thoughts and opinions on my ideas. He was truly my inspiration and drove my passion to help others. He Passed on November 7th, of this year and the cannabis community that knew him mourned greatly. He is my MMJ Hero! The only one I care to praise and mention at this time in my life.
4. How long do you think it'll be until marijuana is legal in Colorado? How long until it is legal nationwide?
That is a great question Steve! Honestly, it won’t be very soon. Realistically in MY opinion the important part has been done in this state for now and that is getting the sick taken care of first with legal medical doctor recommended cannabis (MMJ).
This fight is to me, about my rights, but most importantly the aspect of Medicinal Cannabis is helping patients feel better and NOT so much how the state can tax it. It is and should be a win/win situation. The saddest part of it all is the fact that greed has gotten in the way of compassion for human suffering. The government is so concerned with how much they want to make by taxing it, the welfare of our nations people and the Veterans that fought for our freedoms and need medicinal help for there problems are being left in the dust of the TAXATION AND GOVERNMENTAL GAINS TRUCK.
Nationwide legalization falls under the same problems, as well as the damn right winged smokers that refuse to come forward and take a stand. One of my personal friends is a perfect example, he makes over 100,000 a year, owns his own business and is a closet smoker because of what others might think and the stigma attached to cannabis. This mentality needs to change for laws to ever work in favor of the fight for legalization and that starts with education.
5. What are the wrong things for people to say when they meet you? What are the right things?
Like I mentioned before I am really laid back and extremely open minded and accepting. But, the biggest “no, no” with me is objectifying me as a woman & I don’t appreciate negative and judgmental people. I find it to be exciting and more appealing for someone to approach me with a real and true interest in me as a person and go from there.
The right things to do are be positive, up beat, & interested in more than my physical appearance. I don’t like the idea of a person’s appearance making them unapproachable either. I am friendly and sweet so if & when you do see me please feel free to come up and introduce yourself & say hello.
6. Tell me a little about American Cannabis, of which you are president and founder.
Just a little? Wow, that is hard for me since it is the center of everything I do, my passion, and my life commitment. Ok, I will keep it simple if you will kindly publish an article about American Cannabis itself in the future? What do ya say?
I am President and Founder of the Colorado Chapter of American Cannabis. Larry “Bonner” Lippert is the founder and first President of American Cannabis. The History and Story behind who we are and our goals as an organization can be read at www.americancannabis.org I urge you to please take a look at the site and the information within, it is a true real story of a fight by just regular ordinary people and it will inspire you. Possibly leave you feeling compassion where you did not realize you would.
Our Chapter has 7 specific goals and others come and go as the laws change and progress is made.
1-Unify the voice of change-Support other pro-Hemp groups in your State Support whenever possible. Efforts to help those who will otherwise suffer until universal changes are made. Simply taking the first steps to help Unite our voice to be heard.
2-Promote the Truths about Cannabis, and begin dispelling the "Refer Madness" that our government created.
3- As a Chapter, your responsibility to know your state's cannabis prohibition history, current legislation pending, the Local and State officials that are for/against just Industrial Hemp, etc.
4- Knowing what you're talking about is very crucial. To accept a chapter also means you accept the responsibility of studying, and garnering each Member's knowledge of all the aspects in what this reform will mean for our country, economy, and environment.
5-Each chapter is a Networking beacon, and must rely on their fellow chapters for special skills, advice, support, etc. As a grass roots Organization I can say I have invested more than just time and effort to keep this wagon rolling, and I know Bonner has too. The greater our numbers become with Active members, the greater our chances of finding a fellow member who practice's a skilled trade/owns a particular kind of distribution company that can provide materials for the rest of us, and gives us Buying power to get better price's as a group.
6-Volunteer work, Community Contributions, Adopt a Highway, Fundraising for Charities/Schools/etc. A showing otherwise unapproachable individual that you care about their world is a wonderfully powerful show of character.
7-Knowing why American Cannabis was established is the most important part of all. Each chapter will represent this, but in its own shade of green. That's why we decided to stay away from Rules & Regulations, but expect our Chapters to communicate, build friendships, and eventually depend on each other like family.
My Chapter is managed and ran by myself, and consists of my Vice President Brittany Wagoner "Speechless" (She is Miss Feb. of High Times Magazine too).
TT The Membership is FREE for anyone in Colorado but we encourage a small starters donation of 10 to 20 dollars but it is not at all required. We have Chapter T-Shirts for sale as well as Organization T-Shirts, starting at $20.00 and going up from there.
7. For those in the Pueblo and Colorado Springs areas who are interested in joining, what is the best way for them to contact you?
I am covering all the areas from Denver down to Pueblo actually now that I have a Rep and VP in Denver.
I am easy to get in touch with, my email address isstoney_mcstonerson@hotmail.com there is my personal American Cannabis Colorado website athttp://americancannabiscolorado.spaces.live.com/default.aspx
And I am on MySpace! www.myspace.com/stoney_mcstonerson and Face Bookwww.facebook.com/stoney.mcstonerson
8. What's next for Stoney McStonerson? Any exciting plans?
Join me at the Capital Dec. 26th for the Rally! 2-5pm that is the most recent thing I am going to do!
I just recently applied to CSU to finish my bachelor’s degree in Forensic Science/Anthropology. I am very excited about that, & I am also trying to find someone to design an idea I have so that I can get it mass-produced and out to the cannabis consumer. It is one of my inventions; a very cool device.
All the money I get for the invention I plan on re-investing into ACC (American Cannabis Colorado) and NORML (National Organization for the Reformation of Marijuana Laws). That is what is going on and new in my world.
I am also running for Miss High Times 2011 if I am not chosen this year, but it will be my last year to try.
9. What are your views on Hemp and what do you think it could do for our economy?
I find it completely ridiculous in this time of need and with our failing economy we are not utilizing this diverse plan to boost our job market. The government is so busy trying to figure out how to make money off of MMJ Movement, that they have forgotten the sister plant HEMP! We could cash crop hemp and make paper, use it for insulation, clothes, and natural fuels & oils, the list goes on and on. Using all of those resources off this awesome plant would also create new jobs and could possible boost our economy. Our governments’ focus is off, they need to first figure out a way to affordable license MMJ before they worry about taxing it and focus on the real future for our economy HEMP!

Mon Jan 04, 2010 11:12 am
Hello Ladies!!! Yes, we did it again! Brittany and I came together Dec. 12-13th to prepare for the 2009 Cannabis Health Fair held in Denver where we represented High Times (Miss Feb. 2009) and American Cannabis Colorado. Brittany also was featured in a local Magazine for Jason Lauve by the name of Cannabis Health New Magazine.

I crashed with Brittany at her pad the night before the fair and the next morning we were up and running! But, that evening we got together with Our Caregiver to help him get his pretty buds trimmed up. Here are some photos from that: (Scott from NORML helped too)

Then we went back to Brit's and Chilled:

We met a ton of people including a state Senator! There was a room to powwow and medicate in, not to mention meeting John Doe and friends. This was an amazing experience to meet people and vendors and supporters of out cause. Here are just a few pictures we took:

Aloha Girls and Welcome to my trip to Hawaii. Paradise on earth.

So, first of all I got to stay in a 5 star resort on Wakiki Beach called Hilton Hawaiian Village. We were on the tenth floor overlooking the ocean, in The Ali Tower. So here are some shots of that:

Ok, my first outing was to take my daughter on the Blue Line Trolly Tour of the Island and make some stops along the way. We went the first day to the Zoo and the Halona Blowhole and Diamond Head State Monument. We did all that then the next day we went to Sea Life park all those pictures are on my myspace page. But, then because I had been out and around and talked to people I learned of some local activities I could do that did not cost money. Menoa Waterfalls Hike/Trail and Rock Climbing in the Halona Blowhole Cove. So, that is what I did not to mention going to Sandy Beach one of the biggest Surfer hangouts on the islands. It was so great and I also saw a monk sea lion in the wild swimming at the Blowhole. God was great to me on this trip. He kept me excited, learning, happy and at peace for the entire trip and I only had the desire to smoke ONE time. I was so into Earth and peace I did not even miss it. I know it sounds crazy that I would admit that here on MHT but I experienced it and wanted everyone to know it happens. It is so strange and my mind was so clear there; so many new ideas and things to say when speaking and educating others about marijuana, it was AWESOME. I am ranting...lol it is the bud sorry. LOL
The rain forest!
Little fact I learned, It pulls the tan/color from your skin each time you go in and hike.

The Halona Blowhole!

Rock Climbing the Cove.

Sandy Beach!

Hope you girls and guys love this Blog and it inspires you to go and explore our GORGEOUS Mother Earth. Mad hippie Lovin to you all!!!!!!!!
XOXO-Stoney
